Many Bollywood stars gathered at Ayan Mukerji’s residence to extend their condolences and support him during this difficult time. Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt, known to be close friends of Ayan, immediately returned to Mumbai from their Holi and birthday celebrations in Alibaug upon hearing the tragic news.
Kajol Devgan Overcome with Emotion
Actress Kajol Devgan was also spotted at Ayan’s Mumbai residence with her son Yug. In a video that surfaced, she was seen getting emotional, even breaking down while hugging Jaya Bachchan.
The last rites of Deb Mukherjee were conducted at Pawan Hans Crematorium in Juhu on March 14, attended by close friends and family, including Kajol, Ajay Devgan, Rani Mukerji, Tanuja, Tanisha, Aditya Chopra, Hrithik Roshan, Ranbir Kapoor, and Alia Bhatt.
Deb Mukherjee’s Legacy in Bollywood
Deb Mukherjee had an illustrious career in Bollywood, beginning in the 1960s with films like Abhinetri and Tu Hi Meri Zindagi. He later appeared in supporting roles in Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar and King Uncle. His last appearance was in Vishal Bhardwaj’s 2009 drama Kaminey, starring Shahid Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra.

On the personal front, Deb Mukherjee was married twice. His daughter, Sonia Mukherjee, from his first marriage, is married to filmmaker Ashutosh Gowariker. From his second marriage, he had son Ayan Mukerji, who is currently directing War 2 and working on Brahmastra 2.
