Rani Mukherjee’s latest release film ‘Mrs Chatterjee vs Norway’ has given a great review by all the celebs and critics. It is shown in the film that an Indian mother fights with the entire legal system and administration of a foreign country (Norway) to get her children back. The film is directed by Sagarika Bhattacharya and is based on a true story. Rani’s performance in the film is being highly praised. Meanwhile, Ambassador of Norway to India Hans Jacob Fredlund has raised objections on some scenes shown in the film.

The film gives the wrong narrative about Norway

Norwegian Ambassador Hans Jakob Fredlund told The Indian Express during an interview that the film presents a completely wrong narrative about his country and is ‘factual in accuracy’. Story is fictional representation case. He also said that the film has shown cultural differences as the primary factor in the case, which is ‘completely wrong’. Hans also denied that “hand-feeding and sleeping in the same bed would be reasons for placing the children in alternative care”.

Norwegians also feed children with their own hands

Fredlund said that contrary to what is shown in the film, Norwegians also feed their children with their hands and tell them bedtime stories. Giving his example, he said that he has done the same for his daughters. He said, “When I see false narratives being repeated, it becomes difficult for me to bear. I dread to imagine that our Indian friends will think of the Norwegians as merciless tyrants, which we certainly are not.”

My Op-Ed in @IndianExpress today about the film #MrsChatterjeeVsNorway. It incorrectly depicts Norway’s belief in family life and our respect for different cultures. Child welfare is a matter of great responsibility, never motivated by payments or profit. #Norwaycares pic.twitter.com/FpVWmdLv5h
