Ameesha Patel’s Claims

During the promotion of her film “Gadar 2,” Bollywood actress Ameesha Patel accused contemporaries like Kareena Kapoor Khan and Esha Deol of snatching roles from her. Ameesha claimed that many actresses of her era were jealous of her success. 

Esha Deol’s Surprised Response

Esha Deol expressed surprise at these allegations during a recent interview with News Today. She responded, “Did she say that? My views are very different. I think we were all very busy with the work that was given to us. I was good friends with the girls then and as far as I think no one has snatched away anyone’s role.”

Work Was Plentiful

Esha emphasized that during those days, everyone in the industry had ample work. Speaking to India Today, she said, “I think we were all working a lot and everyone had a lot to do. It’s not like any of us were sitting without work.”

Ameesha’s Perspective as an Outsider

Ameesha Patel, reflecting on her career, mentioned feeling like an outsider in an industry dominated by star kids. She stated, “When I entered the film industry, only children of film actors or children of producers used to debut with me. The star kids who debuted with me included Kareena, Abhishek, Hrithik, Tusshar Kapoor, Esha, Fardeen Khan. Whenever you turned your head, you saw someone from the third generation of some film family.”

She further explained her outsider status by noting, “I was an outsider and I looked at South Bombay as a snobbery anyway because I was an educated outsider. I was the one who remained quiet on the set, I read books and did not gossip. That’s why I was called an outsider because I chose to study.”

Success of ‘Gadar 2’

It’s noteworthy that Ameesha Patel’s film “Gadar 2,” released in 2023, was a blockbuster, breaking several records with earnings of approximately Rs 700 crore. The film, featuring Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel, created a stir similar to the original “Gadar.”
