Manoj Bajpayee’s latest film, ‘Bhaiya Ji,’ released in theaters on May 24, initially struggled to attract audiences. However, reports suggest that the film has started gaining traction, especially among single screen viewers, thanks to Bajpayee’s action-packed performance.

Box office collection 

Despite a slow start, the film has shown signs of improvement over the weekend. According to data from Saknilk, ‘Bhaiya Ji’ earned Rs 1.35 crore on its opening day, Rs 1.75 crore on the second day, and an estimated Rs 1.90 crore by 10:30 pm on the third day. This brings the total earnings to around Rs 5 crore. The final figures are yet to be confirmed, but there is optimism that weekend viewership will boost the film’s overall collection.

Production and Budget

Directed by Apoorva Karki Singh, who previously collaborated with Bajpayee on ‘Sirf Ek Banda Kaafi Hai,’ ‘Bhaiya Ji’ marks the 100th film of Bajpayee’s illustrious career. The film is produced by Bajpayee’s wife and has a modest budget of Rs 20 crores. Given this low budget, the film’s ability to stay in theaters for a couple of weeks could ensure it recoups its costs.

Competition with ‘Srikanth’

Rajkumar Rao’s ‘Srikanth’ continues to outperform ‘Bhaiya Ji’ at the box office daily. The two films belong to different genres, with ‘Srikanth’ being a biopic and ‘Bhaiya Ji’ an action drama. ‘Srikanth’ has received widespread acclaim from both audiences and critics, whereas ‘Bhaiya Ji’ has garnered mixed reviews, being described as an average film by critics. This disparity in reception and word-of-mouth publicity highlights the challenges ‘Bhaiya Ji’ faces in sustaining its box office run.

Story of the film 

‘Bhaiya Ji’ tells the story of a man named Bhaiyaji, who is preparing for his wedding. Tragedy strikes when his younger brother, en route to attend the wedding, is murdered by the brother of a powerful Baahubali. Driven by a desire for vengeance, Bhaiya Ji embarks on a mission to avenge his brother’s death. The film centers around this quest for revenge.
