The last few months have been challenging for Bollywood’s superstar Akshay Kumar, with several of his recent films failing to perform at the box office. However, Akshay is now focusing on his upcoming film, ‘Sarfira,’ set to release on July 12. Despite limited promotion, the film’s compelling storyline and the sizzling chemistry between Akshay Kumar and Radhika Madan have the potential to captivate audiences.
Akshay Kumar has been eagerly awaiting a blockbuster for 32 months
Akshay Kumar’s dry spell at the box office has been ongoing for quite some time. His last major success was ‘Sooryavanshi,’ released on November 4, 2021. Since then, Akshay has struggled to deliver a big hit. Although ‘Oh My God 2’ did well, Akshay mainly played a supporting role in it.
All films except OMG 2 have underperformed
Following ‘Sooryavanshi,’ Akshay has seen a string of box office disappointments, including ‘Bachchan Pandey,’ ‘Samrat Prithviraj,’ ‘Selfie,’ ‘Mission Raniganj,’ ‘Raksha Bandhan,’ ‘Ram Setu,’ and ‘Bade Miyan Chote Miyan.’ Despite its high budget, ‘Bade Miyan Chote Miyan’ failed to impress fans. It’s been 32 months since ‘Sooryavanshi,’ and Akshay has yet to deliver another major hit.
‘Sarfira’ could be Akshay’s comeback hit
Akshay Kumar is optimistic that ‘Sarfira’ will break his box office losing streak. The film’s trailer has already become the most-watched Hindi film trailer of the year, indicating strong audience interest. ‘Sarfira’ is a Hindi remake of South Indian star Suriya’s Tamil film ‘Soorarai Pottru,’ which earned Suriya the National Award for Best Actor. Adding to its appeal, Suriya will make a cameo appearance in ‘Sarfira,’ directed by Sudha Kongara Prasad, blending North and South Indian cinematic elements for a unique fan experience. The film also stars Paresh Rawal in a pivotal role.
With high expectations and a promising storyline, ‘Sarfira’ might just be the blockbuster Akshay Kumar needs to revive his box office success.
