Suriya’s Period Action Drama Receives Mixed Reviews
The much-awaited period action drama Kanguva, starring Tamil superstar Suriya and Bobby Deol, hit theaters with significant buzz. However, the film has received mixed responses from critics and audiences alike. Despite its grand visuals and impressive VFX, the storyline and performances have left fans underwhelmed.
Day 1 Earnings: A Slow Start for Kanguva
Kanguva, released in five languages on Thursday, struggled to meet box office expectations. On its opening day, the film earned ₹24 crores, with the breakdown as follows:
Tamil: ₹14.9 crores
Telugu: ₹5.5 crores
Hindi: ₹3.5 crores
Malayalam: ₹0.07 crores
Kannada: ₹0.03 crores
Day 2 Drop: A Shocking Decline in Earnings
Despite its strong pre-release buzz, Kanguva failed to sustain momentum on its second day. According to early reports from Sacnilk, the film earned only ₹9 crores on Friday. This marks a sharp decline of more than 50% compared to its opening day collections.
Total Box Office Collection So Far
In its first two days, Kanguva has managed a total collection of ₹33 crores. With a production budget of ₹350 crores, the film faces an uphill battle to break even.
Weekend Hopes for Recovery
The makers of Kanguva are now banking on weekend audiences to boost earnings. If the film fails to show significant growth on Saturday and Sunday, recovering its massive budget may prove to be an insurmountable challenge.
Star-Cast of Kanguva
Apart from Suriya, the film features Bobby Deol and Disha Patani in pivotal roles. The ensemble cast also includes Yogi Babu, Redin Kingsley, Kovai Sarala, Anandraj, Ravi Raghavendra, KS Ravi Kumar, Jagapathi Babu, Natarajan Subramaniam, and BS Avinash.
Kanguva is currently grappling with underwhelming performance at the box office. Can the film turn things around during the weekend, or will it remain one of the biggest disappointments of the year? Only time will tell.
