Trade analyst Manobala Vijayabalan revealed on the X platform (formerly Twitter) that Pushpa 2 has surpassed the record set by SS Rajamouli’s RRR. The movie amassed an unprecedented ₹282.91 crore worldwide on its opening day, setting a benchmark in Indian cinema.
Beats Shah Rukh Khan’s Jawan in Hindi Belt
In India, Pushpa 2 has taken the domestic box office by storm, raking in impressive figures in multiple languages:
Telugu: ₹95.1 crore
Hindi: ₹67 crore
Tamil: ₹7 crore
Malayalam: ₹5 crore
Kannada: ₹1 crore
With ₹67 crore in Hindi alone, Pushpa 2 has shattered the opening day record previously held by Shah Rukh Khan’s Jawan (₹65.5 crore in Hindi).
A New Topper in Indian Cinema
Pushpa 2: The Rule has claimed the title of India’s biggest opener, collecting ₹175 crore on Day 1. It dethroned SS Rajamouli’s RRR (₹133 crore) and surpassed other blockbusters like Baahubali 2 (₹121 crore), KGF 2 (₹116 crore), and Kalki 2898 AD (₹114 crore).
Eyeing ₹1000 Crore in the First Weekend?
With its release on a Thursday, Pushpa 2 enjoys a rare four-day opening weekend. If this pace continues, the film is well on track to achieve a ₹1000 crore weekend collection, something no Indian film has ever accomplished.
Can It Beat Dangal?
The all-time highest-grossing Indian film, Dangal, earned ₹2500 crore globally, followed by Baahubali 2 at ₹1788 crore. With such a stellar start, Pushpa 2 could very well challenge these records in the coming days.
Star Cast and Creative Force Behind the Magic
Directed by Sukumar, Pushpa 2: The Rule boasts a stellar cast, including Allu Arjun, Rashmika Mandanna, Fahadh Faasil, Rao Ramesh, Sunil, Ajay Ghosh, and Dhananjay. The film is a sequel to the 2021 blockbuster Pushpa: The Rise, which also garnered massive acclaim and box office success.
All eyes are now on Pushpa 2 to see how far it will soar in the days to come.
