
Mumbai Police Nabs the Suspect Behind Saif Ali Khan’s Attack
In a swift and coordinated operation, Mumbai Police apprehended Akash Kailash Kannaujiya, the 31-year-old suspect accused of attacking Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan. The arrest was made while the suspect was traveling aboard the Gyaneshwari Express train.
How Did Police Track Down the Attacker?
The breakthrough came when the Assistant Police Inspector of Juhu Police Station shared the suspect’s tower location and photo with the Inspector of the Durg RPF Post at 12:24 PM. The information indicated that Kannaujiya was traveling on train number 12101 Gyaneshwari Express.
Timeline of the Arrest
- Initial Alert: At the time of the alert, the Gyaneshwari Express was between Gondia and Rajnandgaon stations. The Durg RPF Commander promptly notified the Rajnandgaon Post Commander and shared the suspect’s photo and location details.
- Rajnandgaon Search: Despite efforts, the suspect was not located at Rajnandgaon.
- Teams Deployed at Durg Station: Two teams were formed at Durg station to intercept the train.
- Identification: Upon the train’s arrival, the suspect was identified in the front general compartment (199317/C) by IPF S.K. Sinha, constable Shriram Meena, and lady constable Nirmala. His identity was confirmed through a photo sent to Mumbai Police.
- Custody and Coordination: The suspect was detained at the Durg RPF Post and his identity was verified via video call with Mumbai Police. Later, a team from Mumbai Police arrived in Raipur to take him into custody.

Inside the Shocking Attack on Saif Ali Khan
The chilling incident occurred on the night of January 16 when the attacker broke into Saif Ali Khan’s residence. A scuffle ensued with the nursing staff, leaving one of them injured. Upon hearing the commotion, Saif rushed to the scene and was stabbed six times by the intruder. The attacker fled the scene as Saif was rushed to Lilavati Hospital, where doctors confirmed his condition is now stable. He is expected to be discharged soon.
