Vicky Kaushal’s historical drama Chhaava is setting the box office on fire. Right from its advance booking, the film showed massive potential, and its grand opening on the first day has proven the predictions right.

Rashmika Mandanna’s Royal Avatar

Directed by Laxman Utekar, Chhaava brings to life the story of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, the valiant son of Maratha warrior Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. Vicky Kaushal portrays the fearless ruler, while Rashmika Mandanna stuns as Maharani Yesubai, his devoted wife. Adding to the grandeur, Akshay Khanna plays a powerful role as the formidable Mughal emperor Aurangzeb.

Packed Theaters & Record-Breaking Occupancy

On its very first day, Chhaava recorded an impressive 32.51% occupancy, surpassing big releases like Akshay Kumar’s Sky Force and Himesh Reshammiya’s Badass Ravi Kumar. In fact, it recorded the highest morning show occupancy of 2025. Comparatively, Sky Force had an opening morning occupancy of 10.29%, while Badass Ravi Kumar stood at 13.09%.

Shattering Old Records

Vicky Kaushal’s biggest box office opener before this was Bad News, which collected ₹8.62 crore on its first day. His critically acclaimed Uri followed with ₹8.20 crore.

Looking at this year’s releases:

  • Emergency opened at ₹2.5 crore
  • Sky Force debuted with ₹12.25 crore
  • Deva started with ₹5.5 crore

Chhaava has left them all behind with its record-smashing debut.

First-Day Box Office Collection: A Massive ₹31 Crore

According to early estimates from SACKNILC, Chhava is poised to earn a whopping ₹31 crore on its opening day. With no major competition at the box office, the film has a clear path to dominate in the coming weeks.

After Pushpa 2, Chhaava is the only film that seems capable of setting new box office benchmarks. If this momentum continues, Vicky Kaushal’s magnum opus might just become the biggest blockbuster of the year.
