South stars Naga Chaitanya and Sai Pallavi are set to bring an inspiring real-life story to the big screen with their much-awaited film, Thandel. This love-action-drama is based on the shocking events of 2018, when 22 Indian fishermen were captured and imprisoned by the Pakistani army.

The story highlights the unwavering efforts of former Foreign Minister Sushma Swaraj, who played a pivotal role in ensuring their safe return. Even after her passing, her daughter Bansuri Swaraj continued her legacy, securing the fishermen’s freedom.

Bringing a True Story to Life

Directed by Chandoo Mondeti, Thandel captures this gripping tale of survival, diplomacy, and resilience. The film also showcases the remarkable contribution of Sushma Swaraj and her family. The family granted their full support, allowing the filmmakers to bring an authentic and powerful narrative to the screen.

Expressing gratitude, Bunny Vasu shared an emotional note:
“Heartfelt gratitude to @BansuriSwaraj garu for giving us the opportunity to showcase the incredible work of her mother, former Union Minister Smt. @SushmaSwaraj garu, who worked tirelessly to bring back fishermen held in Pakistani jails in 2017 and 2018. Your support in allowing us to share this real, hard-hitting story of Raju and Satya means a lot to us.” ❤️
