The actress has now spoken openly about this.

Rupali Ganguly told in a latest interview that due to thyroid she is having problems in having a baby. However, a miracle happened and she was blessed by Rudransh, but she was unable to feed her child. Because of this, she had started eating different things, due to which his weight had increased to 83 kg. She had become very fat and people body-shamed her.

Rupali Ganguly said in a conversation with ETimes, “When I used to take my son for a walk, people used to say ‘Arre tu to Monisha (Rupali’s character’s name in Sarabhai vs Sarabhai) hai na, kitni moti ho gayi hai.’ Probably.” She could have said it in a nice way too, but you feel bad. That thing then stings. An actress friend of mine came to meet me and said, ‘Arre tu to aunty ban gayi’. These things affect you mentally. They live on and haunt you. People have no right to call you aunty or fat. You decide what you want to be called.

Trolling did not stop even after Anupama

Rupali Ganguly’s comeback with ‘Anupama’ was a masterstroke, but the body and age shaming didn’t stop. The actress said, “I went through body shaming and age shaming even after Anupama. Hey your wrinkles are visible, oh you fat lady, yes I have wrinkles and I am proud of it. I’ve earned my wrinkles. I am proud of who I am today. After three years of Anupama, I can say that I have accepted myself the way I am. I want to say to those women who go through these things, reply to your haters. Don’t give anyone a chance to affect you, because you are the best judge.

Broke silence on age difference with Anuj

Rupali Ganguly further said, “I get comments on social media that, hey she is fat. She looks older than Anuj (Gaurav Khanna). Yes, I am older than Anuj in real life too. He is 41 and I am 45 years old. I am proud of it. We play Anuj and Anupama in the show and they are shown at the same age.”
