2024 has seen women dominating the box office with major hits like Article 370, Crew, and Stree 2. Kareena Kapoor Khan, a key player in this wave, recently delivered a box office hit with Crew, co-starring Kriti Sanon and Tabu. However, her latest solo venture, The Buckingham Murders, directed by Hansal Mehta, has taken a completely different direction as a crime thriller.

Despite Kareena’s stellar performance, The Buckingham Murders opened to a dismal start. The film’s first-day collection has been underwhelming, grossing an estimated Rs 60 lakhs at the domestic box office, according to early trade reports from Sacknilk. Critics and audiences alike have delivered mixed reviews, leading to a lack of significant buzz around the release.

One of the main reasons cited for the poor opening is the absence of promotion. Unlike her previous film, Crew, Kareena did not promote The Buckingham Murders, leading to a lackluster reception in theaters. However, the weekend business may still hold promise, and hopes are pinned on Saturday and Sunday to see if the film can recover from its slow start. 

Only time will tell if The Buckingham Murders can gain momentum or remain a box office flop.
