The frenzy surrounding Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao’s horror-comedy film ‘Stree 2’ has reached a fever pitch, as the movie continues to shatter records at the box office. In just 5 days, ‘Stree 2’ has set the cash registers ringing, leaving Akshay Kumar and Taapsee Pannu’s ‘Khel Khel Mein’ and John Abraham’s ‘Veda’ trailing far behind.
‘Stree 2’ has raked in a massive 200 crores in this short span, demonstrating its unstoppable momentum. On its first Monday, often considered a crucial test for box office performance, the film showed no signs of slowing down, earning a solid Rs 37 crore according to early reports from Sacnilk.
Entry into the 200 Crore Club
Kicking off with a blockbuster opening of Rs 51.8 crore, ‘Stree 2’ maintained its stronghold over the weekend. As of yesterday, the film has successfully crossed the 200 crore benchmark, with total earnings reaching an impressive Rs 228.45 crore.
Fastest 100 Crore Grosser of the Year
‘Stree 2’ has also earned the title of the fastest 100 crore-grossing film of 2024, surpassing the previous record held by ‘Kalki Adi.’
‘Khel Khel Mein’ and ‘Veda’ Struggle to Compete
Meanwhile, Akshay Kumar, Taapsee Pannu, Fardeen Khan, and Vaani Kapoor’s ‘Khel Khel Mein’ managed to accumulate just Rs 15.95 crores over 5 days, with an underwhelming opening of Rs 5 crores.
Similarly, John Abraham and Sharvari Wagh’s multilingual film ‘Veda’ has garnered a total of Rs 15.50 crores, starting with a modest Rs 6.3 crore. ‘Veda’ was released in Tamil, Telugu, and Hindi, but has struggled to keep pace with ‘Stree 2’s’ overwhelming success.
